In need of relationship advice?

In need of relationship advice?

I am so tired of TV programs that offer relationship advice. As a mother of teenage daughters, I stand amazed and appalled by the advice given through some of these teen TV and radio programs. I am so terrified that my kids might want to listen to them. Indeed, it is shocking, I remember hearing this one person advice a fourteen year old girl that sex was no big deal as long as she loved her partner, still another time I heard someone so casually provide abortion as an option to a pregnancy due to pre marital sex. I know we live in a liberal world but I am desperately trying to bring up my daughters to realize that sex is serious and pre marital sex is not okay.

The other day, my husband and I were called in to the school for a parent – teacher meeting and we found out that one of the girls in my daughter’s class had fallen pregnant and had opted for relationship advice on the internet and hence, taking the advice, she had gone all by herself to a clinic and had an abortion done. Her parents were completely clueless about it but found out within a week when the poor child suffered a severe infection and fell ill. The teachers at school ran us through a class that advised us as parents to talk to our kids more openly about sex, unwanted pregnancy, protection, sexually transmitted diseases and abortion. Ever since that day, I find myself getting up in the middle of the night, shaking with fear, wondering what my reaction would be if my daughter came home pregnant?
